That access is a product of more than 23 years of on-the-ground democracy work in 80+ countries by Democracy International, the organization behind Democracy Journeys. We come to this work not as travel entrepreneurs, but as experienced practitioners who have spent decades alongside the people you will meet.
You’ll engage with some of the most remarkable people in each country, figures you might read about in the news or see in documentaries who will share their stories with you over meals and private visits. Each journey is led by local democracy experts who deepen understanding and reflection as we go, weaving together narratives and perspectives between stops.
Democracy Journeys also feature incredible cultural moments and sites. Intimate wine tastings, private tours of UNESCO sites, dining at the house of a Macedonian chef, and a night at the Opera in Yerevan are just a few of the unique cultural experiences that we offer.
